Out-of-state license after a DUI arrest
Quick answer
An arrest in one state can still reach a license issued in another. Compact reporting is why “I’ll just drive home” is not a plan.
Home-state licenses still matter
If you were arrested while visiting or commuting, the charging state and the state that issued your license may both take action. Driver-license compact reporting is the usual reason a home-state agency hears about an out-of-state arrest.
What to bring to a consultation
Bring both addresses, both license numbers if you have them, the citation, any implied-consent or temporary-license paper, and the tow receipt. Counsel cannot guess which agency has the first deadline without those documents.
Cost lines can duplicate
You may see interlock, SR-22, or reinstatement fees discussed in more than one state. Do not assume paying one office closes the other.
